Saint Peter Catacombs
St. Peter Catacombs - St. Peter Katakomben Salzburg
The Frankish missionary Rupert (Hroudbert) came to Salzburg around 700 and founded the church of St. Peter with a monastery on the same grounds of the Roman Juvavum. The monk community of this monastery is the oldest on German lands that remained standing steadily. Under the Bishop Amo, a friend of Charlemagne, Salzburg was raised to an archbishopric. Visit the breathtaking constructions that have survived many centuries.
